Pedroncelli Mother Clone Zinfandel 2023

Pedroncelli’s Mother Clone Zinfandel 2023 is a bold, expressive wine that honors more than a century of family tradition in Sonoma’s Dry Creek Valley. Sourced from the historic ā€œMother Cloneā€ vineyard and neighboring sites, this wine combines Zinfandel’s ripe, juicy character with the depth and structure of Petite Sirah.

Vineyard & Winemaking

Fruit from head-trained, sustainably farmed vines was carefully hand-harvested, cold-soaked, and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with daily pump-overs for maximum flavor and color extraction. After fermentation, the wine was aged for 12 months in American oak barrels, 30% new, to enhance its spice and vanilla notes while preserving vibrant fruit character.

Tasting Notes

Bright aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and blackberry mingle with warm baking spices, cinnamon, and a touch of white pepper. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with layers of ripe berry, dark chocolate, licorice, and toasted vanilla. Petite Sirah adds structure and depth, leading to a long, peppery finish.

Food Pairing

Perfect with grilled steaks, barbecued ribs, smoky sausages, or hearty tomato-based pastas. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheddar or gouda. Serve just below room temperature (60–65°F) for optimal balance and expression.
